About the Organisation

Danila Dilba Health Service is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing culturally-appropriate, comprehensive primary health care and community services to Biluru (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) people in the Yilli Rreung (greater Darwin) region of the Northern Territory.

The mission of DDHS is to improve the physical, mental, spiritual, cultural and social wellbeing of its clients through innovative comprehensive primary health care programs that are based on the principles of equity, access, empowerment, community self-determination and inter-sectoral collaboration.

About the Opportunity

Off the back of a recent independent study by Deloitte looking at the ways Danila Dilba can invest their funds into improved primary health care services, the organisation now has an exciting, newly created opportunity for a Service Excellence Coach to join their team. This is a full-time position based in Darwin.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the purpose of this position is to lead, coach, advise and train operations leaders on the new and improved ways of working, providing them with the principles, processes, tools and techniques to increase collaboration, innovation, adaptability and flexibility to perform at the highest level.

You will build compliance capability among leaders to ensure accountability and then monitor performance and initiative improvements in team functioning. 

Some of your day-to-day duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Building a network of influence - participating actively in the development and nurturing of networks and relationships internally to support successful implementation of change initiatives;
  • Building capability - building management capability for the organisation's operational workforce in alignment with the organisational strategy and formal learning and development frameworks;
  • Performance development - Sets short and mid- term objectives and helps develop the performance of operational managers by working within established performance development systems.
  • Training development and delivery - Developing and designing content for training courses to fill gaps in established programs; running complex and/or customised training courses to improve employee performance within and across the operational lines of service; and
  • Improvement/Innovation - Identifying shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, then using established change management programs to deliver prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services.

About You

To be considered for this position you will hold tertiary qualifications in business, public health, social science or other relevant areas and have previous experience working in public health or a multidisciplinary clinical practice within a training capacity and/or at management level. 

You will be well versed in strategy implementation and integration; project tracking and reporting; compliance and risk management; and evidence-based practice. Candidates with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.

Danila Dilba Health Service is seeking a high-level strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to develop innovative solutions and drive a positive change management period within the organisation whilst still maintaining engagement from key stakeholders. 

Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to work collaboratively with people from a range of cultural and social backgrounds and be able to demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal health issues and community-controlled health organisation.

Please note, appointment factors in this role will be subject to:

  • A Criminal History Check
  • Ability and preparedness to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
  • Current driver’s license (desirable)
  • Current First Aid Certificate or preparedness to gain one within six months of commencement

  • Up to 2 weeks paid study leave per annum;

This brings your total remuneration package to between $125,367 - $133,568.
